The European Patent Office surveys a sample of its applicants annually to obtain information on the numbers of patent applications they envisage filing in the future. This year the survey field investigation took place from May to September 2007. This survey serves as one of the Office’s tools for establishing the resources required to handle patent filings within an acceptable time frame. The report of the survey will be published at this site in early 2008. For access to the reports of previous surveys, please click on the links below.
The following main document for each year gives the results of a survey carried out by the EPO on a sample of applicants. The purpose of the survey was to find out intentions towards future numbers of patent filings. The results have been used to forecast overall likely numbers of filings for the year of the survey and for the following two years.
